Understanding and Enhancing Digital Infrastructure
The Distance-Learning programme (DL) "Understanding and enhancing Digital Infrastructure" addresses the basic concepts of specific literacy on how the Internet works, IP addresses, DNS, the various ways of connecting and the different types of Local Area Networks, basic and advanced applications, security, digital identity managing, Grid computing, virtualisation, cloud computing, OPEN Data and digital data management.
DL courses are FREE and delivered in e-learning mode: they provide opportunities to meet in class and a part where students can use asynchronous content, such as video lessons, handouts to study, self-assessment tests, forums to collaborate remotely and other activities of this type. There is also a synchronous part, in contrast to the remote part with teachers, using a Web conferencing system in a virtual classroom.
The training programme is aimed at 250 participants divided into 5 editions, hosted in the Convergence Objective Regions: Calabria, Campania, Puglia and Sicily.
Participation is subject to the professional relevance of the candidates, giving priority to students from schools, cultural institutions, research institutes and universities present in 4 regions mentioned above. In these regions, public authorities will also be recipients of the Objective, which, by covering an essential role in the field of training, can act as an amplifier for the skills acquired by participating in the courses.
Training staff to understanding the potential of the infrastructure that is the subject of the project will make these institutions more open and aware in their use of ICT and therefore their positioning in the world of research and public services easier, also as a result of new investments in national and international projects.
